The Department of History, in collaboration with the P.G. Department of Commerce and Hotel Management and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Sree Narayana College, Sivagiri, Varkala, organized a Model Restaurant & Food Production Practical Lab Visit for FYUGP History students on 28 July 2026.
The programme offered students an opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to the functioning of a model restaurant and a modern food production laboratory. Faculty members of the Department of Commerce and Hotel Management introduced participants to various aspects of hospitality operations, including food production, kitchen management, restaurant service, hygiene and safety practices, and customer care.
During the visit, students explored the restaurant and food production facilities, observed professional kitchen operations, and interacted with faculty to understand the practical dimensions of the hospitality industry. The session emphasized the significance of discipline, teamwork, quality standards, and effective service in hospitality management.
The practical visit served as an enriching interdisciplinary learning experience, helping students appreciate the close relationship between history, heritage, tourism, and the hospitality sector. The programme concluded with an interactive discussion, providing valuable insights into the hospitality industry and its diverse career opportunities.
